Handmade Luggage

I have two people making bespoke luggage for me. The man who makes the grips is the cartridge bag and slip maker and the case and luggage maker is a lady trained by the famous Finnigans of Bond St. - the Purdeys of the luggage world.

My bag maker specialises in grips of various sizes using the same beautiful leathers and canvasses that are used for the cartridge bags, these grips are classic in design and will last a lifetime.

Attache cases , gladstone bags, hatboxes, suitcases, you name it and Marie Upshire will make it to standards that will agreeably surprise you. She uses the finest hand stitched bridle leathers and wonderful linings to create masterpieces that are owned by people who demand only the best. I have a photo album of past work as a reference so that your ideas can to shaped into reality.

Luggage Tags

Distinctive luggage tags made from the Guardsman webbing of your choice. With strap and buckle fastening these tags can match your cartridge bag straps etc we have many diferent colours which may match family colours etc. Use these and identification in the luggage carousel is simple.

We have sold thousands of our colourfull luggage tags and sometimes we are asked where we put the name and address. Unfortunately there was not a suitable place to do this, but an insistent French Count got me thinking and this resulted in a slight redesign of the tag. We can now make the tag with a lollipop shaped strap which is a nice size upon which to block your initials .

We can block them in black, gold or no colour ( blind blocking ). The size shown in the photos is 16 point ( 5 mm high ), but we have larger sizes if required. We also have a range of six crowns to surmount initials, please ask.

Luggage Straps

We also make highy visible straps that go around suitcases for security and identification. Sliders allow for length adjustment. Two sizes, for small and large suitcases in about different 20 colour swith a choice of two leather colours, best quality buckles, very elegant and practical.

Handmade Attache Case

Made by a Lady who was trained by the famous luggage manufactures Finnigans of Bond Street now regretably long out of business; but I am pleased to say that the skills live on.

These cases are made in 4 sizes and 2 different styles.

They are made entirely from leather which is wetted and then shrunk onto on a welded steel rod frame in the old way with no wood used at all.

This process was perfected by Finnigans in about 1840 and these cases are still made in exactly the same way. Every stitch is hand knotted and produces a case which will last and improve over a lifetime - the process and the options are worth a good chat so if this is of interest please give me a call.
