Cartridge Magazines

Cartridge magazines come in all shapes and sizes and to be honest they are usually of doubtfull use, this is because the vast majority of them were made 50 to 100 years ago in the era of the 600 feet per second rolled turnover cartridge.

This paper cased cartridge used bulky powders and was about half an inch longer than its modern equivalent, the result being that when a modern cartridge is put in an old cartridge magazine that when the magazine is picked up the cartridges move and end up all over the place in there nice oak compartments and instead of orderly rows of parallel squibs you have a random mix of cartridges at all sorts of angles, not nice. The answer is a new magazine with narrower compartments.

My magazines are brand new, hold 200 and sized to hold the cartridges neatly in parallel rows with leather strop type straps to pull up if a compartment is less than full.

The 200 size is a joy to behold, made from an oak frame with oak dividers it is hand stitched using the very best bridle leather and fits in a car or 4 X 4 perfectly without taking up too much space and it will take all those spare cartridges that would be left in part used outers.

It should be said that you can reasonably lock a magazine - however the loaders might give you funny looks if you padlocked your cartridge bags! No names no pack drill.
