Cartridge Boys

I have made three types of cartridge boy for picking up cartridges in different situations.

1.The CARTRIDGE BOY SHORT version is mainly for use in a pigeon hide, being 18" long it fits into our drum seats and is wonderful for extracting cartridge cases from the nettles in summertime. When the day is over and the hide taken down then this tool is such a help particularly if the client has strong ejectors. However I now often take the short version on big driven days as it is easily carried ( clipped to the gun slip - the magnet sticks to the barrels through the slip ) and is a pleasure to use. Unless you are very tall or have a really bad back it is only the last foot or so of bending down that is the problem - the short stick is quite long enough to make picking up cartridges no effort. 2. The original CARTRIDGE BOY is 36" long and has two very powerful earth magnets -one exposed at the end and one 3" up the shank, this allows you to pick up about 20 cartridges with ease. The spent cases will actually jump 2" off the ground onto the magnet! This stick is not really designed as a walking stick but so far no one has broken the exposed magnet which is a surprise as they are meant to be brittle.

3. The latest addition is CARTRIDGE GENT. I was asked to produce a proper stick that would be a hill stick , look good and after the drive save the Gun bending down by having a magnetic end. So that is what we have made, these sticks are all thumbsticks and we have 3 options at the top -the thumb part - rosewood, buffalo or stag horn.But the clever bit is that all these sticks are jointed. They have a billiard cue connector half way up the shank so that they can be packed in a case, taken on a plane or simply put away in the car.

Lengths vary from 48" to 60" please specify as there is no exposed magnet this makes the stick a proper walking stick, but because all the magnets are now enclosed this does slightly reduce the magnets effectiveness and a good haul is a dozen empty cases.
